At the end of the year 2006, there were more than 116,500 youth being served by Boys & Girls Clubs and almost 47,000 members.

  • 43% are from single parent families.
  • 46% are from economically disadvantaged households.
  • 42% are African American, 25% are Hispanic.
  • 58% are boys and 42% are girls.

Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey provide the community with access to their facilities.

· Head Start programs, church groups, ethnic organizations, charter schools and school recreation programs hold meetings, sporting events and other programs at Boys & Girls Club facilities.

Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey are special because they are the only youth organization that provides all of the following;

· professional staff;

· services exclusively designed for youth;

· daily access to facilities;

· strong advocacy for and with youth from differing backgrounds and cultures;

· available and affordable programs to all members; and

· special counseling to disadvantaged children.

Boys & Girls Clubs of New Jersey have a strong volunteer network.

· At the end of the Year 2006, Boys & Girls Clubs estimate that there were more than 3,000 board and program volunteers.   Boys & Girls Clubs of New Jersey have a dedicated staff.    · At the end of the Year 2006, Boys & Girls Clubs employed 281 full-time professionals and 1,336 part-time professionals statewide for a total of 1,617 adult employees.   Boys & Girls Clubs of New Jersey are located throughout the State.

· At the end of the Year 2006, there were 24 Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey with almost sites 60 (some of the clubs have more than one location).
